AT THE RESOURCE CENTER
April thru June 2018
8 bus passes were given out.  3 Veteran lunches held serving 26 lunches total,  52 Community Notices were emailed out, and 9 NWNNA meeting notices were sent out.
And in July and August
So far 71 backpacks with supplies were distributed and 7 backpacks without supplies. Methwick Woodland residents supplied four of the backpacks.  22 community emails were sent out and 6 meeting notices. And 10 bus passes were given out.

The NW Resource Center's current hours for walk in services is from 1pm to 3pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (Federal Holidays observed).

The center can be open additional hours with prior arrangements, for social groups, meetings and other functions. The center is located at 1412 Ellis Blvd NW. There is parking at the rear of the building, through the Trinity St James Church parking lot off of 8th St.


​The center is closed from December 20th to January 11th, but phone calls and email will be monitored during this time to help answer questions or meet needs of individuals on a case by case basis.

The public can use the three computers at the center to access Iowa Workforce Development's website.  You can apply for unemployment, check on status of claims, do job searches, have live chats with IWD help support, create resumes and more. 

Additional center Information:


  • The Resource Center has three computer stations, with internet access, for use by the general public.   On the computers we have Windows OS  7, 8.1 and 10, with WiFi for personal laptops, as well as the following programs - QuickBooks 2010/2015, Office Suite 2010/2013, and Adobe Acrobat Pro,
  • There is a variety of community events and program information that is available at the center.

The Harvey Nelson Children's Reading Room

Parents bring your child in to get a FREE book. This service is provided for preschoolers to 7th graders. The location is at the NW Resource Center, 1412 Ellis Blvd NW, from 1pm, to 3pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, please call staff person before coming, at 366-1176. This program is sponsored by the Northwest Neighbors Neighborhood Association, Quota International in conjunction with the Cops 'n Kids Reading Program and private donations.
